The ministry asked the municipality to cooperate with the Yugoslav authorities.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.secanje.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/garderen-cemetery002.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"417\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.secanje.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/garderen-cemetery002.jpg 417w, https:\/\/www.secanje.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/garderen-cemetery002-209x300.jpg 209w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 417px) 100vw, 417px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>On 6 April 1938 the Consul General of Yugoslavia in Rotterdam, Dr. J.S. Mili\u010di\u0107, announced to the Barneveld municipal authorities that the Yugoslav government had issued a decree to exhume all remains of Yugoslav soldiers buried in the Netherlands. The remains will be concentrated in a mausoleum in Czechoslovakia. To this end two inspectors have been appointed to lead the exhumations in The Netherlands, Branko Popovi\u0107 and Dobrosav Popovi\u0107, who will be sent to Netherlands shortly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.secanje.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/garderen-cemetery003.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"444\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-258\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.secanje.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/garderen-cemetery003.jpg 444w, https:\/\/www.secanje.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/garderen-cemetery003-222x300.jpg 222w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 444px) 100vw, 444px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span>Further to its letter of 1931, the Ministry of Interior informs the mayor of Barneveld on 28 April 1938 of the formal decision of the Yugoslav Government to exhume the remains of Yugoslav soldiers, who were buried in 8 towns in The Netherlands, and concentrate them in a mausoleum in Czechoslovakia.
